TESTIMONIALS
Intercultural preparation for Internships Abroad by Jennifer Andrusyszyn, graduate of Nipissing University’s BA Honours Geography & BEd 2015
My travelling experiences would not have been as successful or as rewarding without Karen Strang’s expertise. She gave me the guidance and support to develop intercultural competencies, which in turn helped me to fully engage in the experiences I desired to have on my travels. During the time that I’ve known Karen, she has become an inspiration to me in many ways.
Within the last 3 years I was able to supplement both of my degrees with international experiences. In 2013, I participated in a Students for Development Internship, funded by CIDA in Kenya for 4 months, and in 2015, I was able to experience a Teacher Education Placement in Nicaragua for 3 weeks. Neither of these experiences would have been possible without the hard work and dedication that Karen Strang provided for me to achieve these worldly goals. Not only did she coordinate everything, she provided the guidance and support for all the participants that included intercultural training prior to the trip, throughout the experience and re-entry consultations. She also organized the management of all the logistics (travel itinerary, health immunizations, visas, and accommodations), as well as risk management and mitigation to ensure the safety of everyone involved.
Utilizing the services of “Strang Intercultural Solutions” I’m confident that Karen Strang will provide you with the advice and the knowledge to learn about your own culture and that of others. I believe that she would be a huge asset to anyone interested in travelling abroad or learning about other cultures in more ways than you can imagine!
